England, Day 6

I actually got an excellent night's sleep. One of two on the whole trip. We woke up around 7:30 and had a healthy breakfast of cereal, hard boiled eggs, bananas, and toast. All in our room. We assumed that the breakfast description on the website meant a full English breakfast. However, this was a guest house and not a B&B. Breakfast items are provided but nothing is really cooked and there is no dining area. Hazel's son-in-law Dave picked us up in the afternoon to take us to Hazel's house. We visited with the family, ate food, listened to wonderful stories about Hazel's life and basically spent the whole day surrounded by jolly English people.

This is David assisting Hazel with her many gifts. He's showing her how to use the digital camera she just opened. It had several pictures on it already from the party the night before. The next day we went to Windsor. Hazel bought a disposable camera to use for the day.
Martin (Hazel's oldest son), the two ladies thankful for spam, Doug (Hazel's youngest son).
Liza, Joan (Paula's mom, Paula is Doug's lady), Pamela (Martin's wife)
This is a picture of Hazel and her husband on their honeymoon. Her hand is not in her shirt (as most people thought), it's fisted while she is holding her purse. Doug said how nice is was for his dad to dress up for his honeymoon.

Hazel's backyard. She is famous for her green thumb as well as her letters.

Her refrigerator. Very slim-line but standard for England.
This is Hazel's beloved kitty Poppy. She is at least 17 years old and sweet as can be. We had left-overs from the party, yes all the fried meat stuff, and pies that Hazel made. Doug tricked her into making them before Christmas. He said he needed them for a party. This was not a total lie but it's funny that she slaved over making pies for her own party. Doug froze them until time for the celebrations. She made 3 different kinds; cheese, cheese and onion, and cheese and spam. Yes, spam. Two ladies joined the festivities at Hazel's house and thanked America for 3 things; Nylons, spam, and soldiers. I tried the cheese and cheese and onion pies. They were really terrific. I think there were about 30 people at the house at some point. We took pictures, ate more food and then headed back to our guest house shortly after 9pm.
