Hey, That's My Bike!

My post title is from...the awesome 90s movie Reality Bites. Hey, That's My Bike was the name of Troy's (Ethan Hawke) band. The band's music was pretty bad but Janeane Garofalo was so hilarious in that movie. So, several weeks ago Jeff's step dad bought me a bike at a yard sale. It's in perfect condition and super cute.
This is a picture from the Internet. I've wanted a bike for a few years now but I never really set aside any money toward a future purchase. I haven't had a bike since the winter of 1993. That's also the last time I've ridden a bike. That's a long time. Everyone wanted to see me ride it but I was too scared. I finally rode it when I was the only one home. It was scary. I'd forgotten how to ride one. I know the saying, "It's like riding a bike," meaning it's something you never forget how to do. Lies, all lies. I'll keep practicing but each time I get on it and try to pedal I get a overwhelming nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach. I'd rather not fall off my bike. It hurt when I was younger and it will hurt even worse now. My dad printed off some manual instructions on gear shifting (it's a 21 speed!) and he believes the gears may be too tight, thus causing difficulty with a smooth ride. I don't agree 100% but I will keep trying. I see people riding their bikes all over town and they just look so smug. I'll show them.

Yay for biking!!! We should ride together sometime! I know what you mean about being nervous. I still get a little jittery, but the more you ride the easier it feels!!
