England, Odds and Ends

Our last day in England consisted of driving to the airport and flying back home. Nothing interesting or particularly English about the day. I was pleased to be home. I wanted to do two things when I got home, eat a salad and take a long, warm shower. I did both within 24 hours of landing back in the states. I didn't really mention the vehicles in England but I did take some pictures. Everyone either has a Land Rover or a teeny tiny car. I think you get a tax break if you have a small car.

This last one is a Smart Car. I saw several our last few days in England. I also learned some new words, or adult words, that I will try to use. I already mentioned derelict but I also heard unadulterated a couple of times in England. So sophisticated. Here are some English terms translated to American...
gammon--ham (already mentioned), biscuit--cookie (again already mentioned but a popular cookie brand in England is Digestives--sounds a little clinical to me but they are very yummy), caravan site--trailer park, mobile--cell phone, anti clockwise--counter clockwise, walkway--sidewalk, out sized--over sized, pastry case--pie crust, boot--trunk (of a car).

So, I had a fantastic time, learned lots of new things, tasted wonderful food, met delightful people and I can't wait to go again!
