Foster Update

We are in day 6 with "Duke" and it has been interesting. Sandi still has not really warmed up to him, she just kind of ignores him. For most of the weekend he was missing. He took off to the lake and was seen playing at another lake house with a litte girl and her dog. He was gone all of Sunday and it's so odd that he keeps coming back to the house considering that we've had him such a short time. We borrowed a plastic kiddie pool for him to cool off in because he kept sitting in his water bowl.
He took off again shortly after his spa session. He returned last night just in time for the storm. Sandi is majorly frightened of thunder storms and her typical behavior (tail down, ears half-cocked, dazed demeanor) began around 7pm. It got extremely dark outside and the loud claps of thunder weren't far behind. If you've seen Marley & Me then you'll remember the scene in which John and Jennifer (Wilson and Aniston) go on vacation and leave a dog sitter with Marley. There are several thunderstorms during the week and Marley ransacked the house and howled and barked to no end. That was "Duke" last night, except for the ransacking of the house. We tried to keep him calm and caged in a large ASPCA dog kennel. Nothing got him to stop barking and howling though until the storm passed, over an hour later. Can't wait to see what's in store the rest of the week. We're supposed to have evening thunderstorms every day except Friday. I may pick up some earplugs on the way home from work today.
