Cody is pretty dedicated to nap time and Sandi loves to nap with him.
Everyone stayed for a few days. We went for a couple boat rides but mostly hung out in the yard. 4th of July weekend also included some guests. My friend Barbara and her husband Dexter came for a visit. Their son Jason, his wife and a friend joined us that Saturday for a few hours of boat riding, swimming, and a lovely meal. I ate a lot that weekend and everything was fantastic. I loved the peach cobbler and the Rainer cherries the most. If you have not had Rainer cherries you're missing out.
Aren't they pretty? They taste like juicy candy. I call them nature's candy. You can only get them for a short time in the summer. I usually eat so much I get sick but it's worth it. We enjoyed a free fireworks show from the view of the back porch. It seemed our neighbors were competing to see who had the biggest and brightest display. In other dog news, Jeff and I are fostering a dog for a while. They told us his name was Duke. He was going to be put down on Thursday so we decided to bring him home. He's still here. First off, his name is not Duke--he does not respond to it and it totally does not suit him. Secondly, he has a very sweet temperament. Thirdly, he ran away today for about an hour. We're not sure what to think about that but we are just in the fostering phase at this point.

Sandi is still warming up to him. He's not as energetic as she is but I really think the only other animal that would be is a Tasmanian devil. She's still scared of storms, hiding under the bed, shaking like crazy, and sitting in this odd spot.
She did this a few weeks ago. I've never seen her sit that way before.
This is a view of the sunset from the back porch one evening. It was very beautiful. In other news, I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. It's marvelous. Lisbeth Salander has to be one of the most unique characters ever written and the author had true talent. I also read A Match For Mary Bennet. It was really fun. Work has been slow but that's to be expected in the summer. And the heat is unbearable. That's about all I've got going on now.

Your blog is the best place to get titles to read. I just finished The Art of Racing in the Rain. You'd like it since now you're a dog owner. And today I finished Crow Lake. It was also pretty good.
