I love what we finally ended up with and it makes me smile to see it on my desk.
They don't need much water and I just have to make sure they get some sunlight every few days. I'm pretty sure I'll still end up killing the poor things but I'm hoping for the best.
I also went to Joann's and agonized over picking fabric. I needed two different prints. I wanted them to "go together" but not necessarily match. I wanted a geometric pattern for a new seat cushion and a floral print to recover a lampshade. I was set on something in the purple family but then drifted toward green (like I always seem to do, my bedroom does have a lot of brown and blue though).
Once the fabric choice was made I headed over to Lowe's to get some paint. This ugly yet simple desk came from work for free.
It was in the attic gathering dust and I was given permission to take it home. This chair (already sanded and seat removed) has been my computer chair for at least a decade and who knows how long it was in use before then.
This is the "after" for both.
They will be my new school desk and chair. I grabbed some prefab shelving so I can place my books and other office materials (pens, scratch paper, etc.) above the desk. Surface area on the desk is pretty minuscule so the shelving should help. I'll do another post once I get the area completed. I was searching Pinterest yesterday for artwork inspiration. I plan to have another collage of framed pictures but these will focus on literature that I love.
