I was wide awake by 2am on the 31st and finally decided to get out of bed at 5:30am. I started baking cookies and brownies (while waking up my soon-to-be-mother-in-law, oops!). It had been raining most of the night and was continuing with a drip/drizzle when the sun came up. By then I was moving outdoor furniture and rental tables, hanging tissue paper pom-poms, clipping photographs on string with clothespins, helping my mom in the kitchen, my dad in the yard, and generally running around like a chicken with her head cut off. The rain finally stopped around 11am and didn't start again despite a 100% chance between 4pm and 6pm. I got my hair and makeup done around noon and it was all a blur from there. Our photographer arrived around 2pm and some of our guests started to trickle in. Pictures were taken, kisses were given, a ceremony, a prayer, great food, happy friends and family and a late night drive to Atlanta to catch a plane in the morning. So, enough with the talk and on to the photos...
Jeff and I decided to do what is called a "first look" so we could have a private moment together before the ceremony started. The above picture is not the initial first look photo--that involved a view of my backside. Isn't my dress beautiful? Jeff's mom, my mother-in-law made it. The first look also allowed us a chance to take posed pictures with family and friends before the ceremony so we could spend time visiting after the ceremony rather than posing for photos.
This picture makes me laugh because my sister-in-law's hair is blowing away, I'm looking at friends coming to the yard and Jeff is trying to get everyone to look at the camera and be still.
This is me and my family.
This is our lovely friend Barbara.
This is me being silly before I met my dad to walk down the "aisle".
Easin' on down the aisle.
I'm not sure what part of the ceremony this is (I think the whole thing was less than 10 minutes) but maybe our vows.
I loved when everyone clapped and hooted. I didn't know Barbara did a victory pose so I'm glad we have this picture.
All the food, except for the fabulous dessert table, was upstairs in the covered porch. I didn't eat much but it was delicious and I didn't hear any complaints from our guests. My mom is a fantastic cook!
Here's Barbara helping my sister set up her cute-as-can-be mini cupcakes.
Jeff's groom's cake (a jell-o rainbow cake) created by my talented friend Kelly. The funniest part was the augmented chest on my fondant caricature.
Jeff and me cutting our wedding cake. Michanne will make another cake for our one year anniversary, I'm not into eating year old cake.
We had a few activity stations set up including croquet, corn hole (beanbag toss), horseshoes, and kayaking. Jeff set things up with his nephews.
We also had a guest "tree" rather than guest book for people to place their thumb print and write their name to make leaves on a tree. Frances created this beautiful tree that we can frame and enjoy for years to come.
This is a shot of the backyard just as we turned the garden lights on.
Dylan was nice enough to take pictures of me and my bffs acting like silly fools.
And of me in my kayak (I'm the only one that got in the kayak!).
And of me opening a gift. Yep, that's a hundo in my dress.
And of me and Jeff. I love the blue night sky in this picture.
It really was a special day for me and Jeff and I think everyone had a great time and enjoyed marvelous food and company. Once I get the disc I may be doing some black and white alternatives as well as some other tweaks so there will undoubtedly be more wedding posts/pictures in the future.
