No Comic Con For You!

Last year Kelly and I bounced around the idea of attending Comic Con in 2014. We were both on board and earlier this year we created accounts on the Comic Con website. Over the last few weeks we've texted about new details, contemplated flight costs, hotel availability, rental car needs, etc. I've never been to San Diego or anywhere in California so the prospect of some extra tourist days not associated with Comic Con was appealing as well. This past Saturday was the day badges (tickets) went on sale.
Those who attended last year got first pick weeks ago so the newbies had to duke it out on Saturday. If you did not have an account created by Saturday then you weren't going to be eligible to buy badges. You could enter the waiting room two hours prior to the sale time but getting there any time before fifteen minutes of the actual sale time would not help your chances, supposedly. Kelly and I both logged in and waited. If she got in line before me she would buy my badge and I would do the same for her if I got in line first. We wanted the 3-day badges for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. After about 45 minutes the Saturday badges sold out, then the Friday badges sold out about 10 minutes after that. We agreed that if two of the three days we wanted were sold out then we wouldn't bother traveling all that way for one day of the conference. We admitted defeat, logged out, and got on with our day. I did a little pouting for about an hour and played with the idea of badges going on sale on eBay. I'm sure this will happen in the next couple months and I'll check frequently, but it's likely the prices will be sky high. I'm really disappointed about the whole thing. The main reason I wanted to go is because they have amazing panel discussions with some of my favorite TV show and movie casts/writers. Here are some of the highlights from Comic Con last year--use the menu at the left to navigate. I would have been in groupie heaven. And Kelly is always fun to be around and we've traveled to New York and Utah together so California would have been a nice addition. The good news is that I might be able to go to Myrtle Beach with my family on their annual trip since it is the same dates as Comic Con.
