Pinterest Pledge {recipes}

That's right folks. Not only did I get an early start on this months Pinterest Pledge but I did two recipes in one day! The first recipe I tried came from a healthy slow cooker recipes pin.
The image above is the actual recipe I tried; French Pot Roast. The pin has several others recipes but the original pin image is what caught my attention. First, I must say that this recipe was delicious! Comforting and decadent at the same time. Secondly, who ever wrote this recipe forgot to mention when you actually put the 2 cups of beef broth in. I'm glad I triple checked everything before I started the crock pot. Mom always says to read a recipe several times before you actually start cooking. Well, I read several times after. Anyway, I made a guess and decided to pour the beef broth in before turning on the crock pot for the next 4-5 hours. I made red-skinned mashed potatoes (suggested as the base or egg noodles) and spooned the meat and veggies on top followed by a good helping of the broth.
Just incredibly yummy. I will say this was not a simple dish to make despite being able to use the crock pot. Each piece of meat had to be coated in flour and then browned in batches. This took at least 30 minutes, not to mention the time to cube the meat, and cut and fry the bacon. Adding frozen pearl onions and peas saved time, of course, but I think I'll try it next time with large slices of fresh onion. It does make a lot which is nice because we can have leftovers for at least one more night, maybe two. On to the next recipe; Peachy Keen Bars. I actually pinned this one twice so I had to try it out.
I loved that the recipe used yellow cake mix (one of three options) and I love, love, love yellow cake. I also love peach cobbler so I thought this would be a super yummy dessert. It wasn't.
It's awful; too sugary sweet and artificial tasting. I had one 'bar' and the rest will be thrown away. So sad. I left it in the fridge in case Jeff wanted to try it but considering his track record with desserts this one is pretty much already in the garbage. I also tried a Pioneer Woman recipe this weekend (I had a three day weekend so I took advantage by cooking---ugh, also a little sad) but I'll post about that some other time.
